In 2015 Microsoft announced Windows 10 as its last Windows Operating System. In fact, Microsoft has made drastic changes to the Windows development, testing and release process – known as ‘Windows as a service’. Today, the Semi-Annual Channel provides a twice-per-year feature update release for Windows 10 and Office 365 ProPlus, allowing users to gain access to new features, experiences, and integrated security as soon as possible.
While the Microsoft Servicing Model has improved since its inception, a lot of companies are still using their patching process developed for previous Windows versions to service their growing Windows 10/Office 365 ProPlus fleet; or worse are not servicing their environment. This approach can impact security as well as productivity.
cubesys C.O.P.E.: Modern Desktop Servicing offer was used at Coca-Cola Amatil to streamline deployments and address a fragmented Windows 10 version matrix. With a single version of Windows 10 to support the tools and processes were improved to reduce administrative overheads for testing, targeting and deployment.
Through the use of analytics and the deep insights they provide, Coca-Cola Amatil was able to move away from a green button approach (where every application has to be tested on every release before it’s deployed) and was able to adapt to a red button approach (which means updates are delivered unless there is a detected issue).
These changes have increased deployment success and dramatically reduced user outages.
The time to service Windows 10 for the whole fleet has been reduced, allowing Coca-Cola Amatil to provide a secure and productive platform to its users.
